Looking for the perfect place to find an adoptable furry friend or volunteer your time to help change a dog’s life? We have several great humane societies in the River Region!

FOSTERING

The Montgomery Humane Society offers two types of fostering to help animals in need feel loved and supported. The FWI (Foster With Intent) Program and the Foster Medical Program. For both foster types, the Humane Society tries to find foster parents who have the intent of adopting the animal they are fostering. The FWI applies to puppies and kittens at the shelter who do not meet the age and weight requirements to be spayed/neutered or adopted out. The Foster Medical Program was created for shelter animals who are diagnosed with a medical condition that needs to be addressed before the adoption can be finalized.

VOLUNTEER

The River Region’s animal shelters are always looking for volunteers who are committed, caring, and ready to make a difference in the lives of animals and adopters. By offering your time and services, you will be helping to place as many adoptable animals as possible into loving homes, while positively impacting the community. Contact your local shelter to find out how you can help!

DONATE

Local animal shelters are always in need of supplies to take care of their adoptable pets. Here are a few items shelters are always accepting: dog and cat treats, hard chew toys, blankets (new or used), and newspaper or shredded paper.
