There are so many fun things for families to do in Montgomery and the River Region!
Getting creative is one of our favorite things to do together—and the Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts offers the perfect setting. Using our bodies to make shapes on a colorful video wall, building with Legos and magnets, and exploring different art mediums make each visit to ArtWorks well-rounded and inspiring.
MUSEUM OF ALABAMA / GRANDMA’S ATTIC
Learning is so fun here! Grandma’s Attic is full of many hands-on learning centers that introduce the history and heritage of our state. We can continue the conversations and educate ourselves at the Museum of Alabama exhibit (on the same floor.) It’s impressive anew each time and captivating overview of Alabama’s history.
Live out your dream of blasting off to space! The brightly-painted structures at Kiwanis Park are an adventure waiting to happen. Bouncy bridges, monkey bars, tire swings and settings from General Stores to Trolley rides offer lots of imaginative play; and a chance to enjoy a beautiful part of the city.
A zoo membership is a must for our family. We love visiting our favorite animals a few at a time and checking in on new babies and exhibits after school. A pretty day begs for us to enjoy the playground and a leisurely train ride through the zoo. We love supporting such an inviting place for families in Montgomery.
John and Erika Tracy are proud residents of the Cloverdale-Idlewild neighborhood and enjoy the beautiful outdoors and genuine hospitality of Montgomery the most. John is a part of the Information Technology team at The Montgomery Academy. Erika is a freelance graphic designer and photographer. Their son Thomas makes sure they spend lots of time at parks and their favorite local restaurants (Chappy’s, El Rey, and Cafe Louisa). You will find them escaping to their favorite place, Lake Martin, for some fun in the sun and a slower pace.
