Montgomery and the River Region is the perfect place for active duty and retired military!
We especially appreciate how welcoming and kind our neighbors were in Prattville both times we moved in. There are unbeatable military appreciation events and discounts too.
Our family felt at home in Prattville when I attended two years of graduate school at Maxwell Air Force Base from 2003 to 2005. We deliberately made plans to come back after that. The Air Force sent me to get a PhD, which paved the way for me to return to Prattville and teach at the Air Command and Staff College as a retired officer.
Life in the River Region has been fantastic. Both of our sons, Brandon and Garrett, went to school here from junior high to college. We love being with our church family at the University Church of Christ in Montgomery. I also enjoy playing guitar, woodworking, and boating with friends and family.
The River Region is a great place to retire. The Air Force Base still provides some of their services to retirees such as the commissary and the base exchange. But the real draw to me is the way the region has made us feel at home, especially when we were new to town.
TOP 3 FAVORITE THINGS TO DO AS A FAMILY:
1. Worshipping and serving with our church family
2. Boating at Lake Martin
3. Dining at the dozens of fantastic restaurants in the area
