The River Region fall brings about an extensive list of community events throughout the year. Here’s your guide to what’s going on this fall!

Alabama National Fair – Montgomery

The Alabama National Fair comes around to Montgomery each October. Staple attractions include exciting fair rides, live music, a family-friendly circus, and art and livestock exhibits. There are a variety of shows featured at the fair each year, so keep your eye on their calendar! This year, the ten day fair will be from October 6th – 15th, 2023. 

Alabama Frontier Days – Montgomery

Experience one of the largest and most authentic living history fall events in Alabama! Each November, visitors can see the south as it transitioned from Creek Indian lands to military forts and civilian homesteads during the period 1700 to 1820 at Fort Toulouse. Entry for adults is $10 and students is $7.

AWF Wild Game Cook-Off State Finals – Millbrook

Competition is going to be fierce at the AWF 2023 Wild Game State Championship on August 5th, 2023. The Cook-Off will be held at Alabama Nature Center Pavilion beginning at 5:30 pm. Don’t miss this perfect opportunity to enjoy some good ol’ fashion fun, fellowship, and great food with other sportsmen and women and outdoor enthusiasts. Ample servings of great food are always featured, including entrees such as venison, duck, dove, pheasant and much more!  .

Coosa Candy Crawl – Wetumpka

Join Main Street Wetumpka for the Coosa Candy Crawl! Dress in your favorite costume and trick-or-treat through our local downtown businesses and table sponsors. October 26th, 2023 from 5:30 pm – 7:30 pm.

Great Alabama 650

Great Alabama 65 is the United States longest paddle race! Test your strength, endurance, and mental fortitude. This epic adventure takes racers along the core section of the Alabama Scenic River Trail, the longest river trail in a single state. From rushing whitewater to the ambling river delta, the race will challenge even the most experienced paddler. This race is sure to be a one-of-a-kind experience that will not soon be forgotten! It will occur from September 30th – October 10th, 2023. 

Great Grits Cookoff & 5K – Prattville

Join the Prattville YMCA on October 21st, 2023 from 8 am – 12 pm for a day of live music, bounce houses, arts and crafts vendors, the Nitty Gritty 5K Race, and a whole lot of grits!

Junior League of Montgomery’s Holiday Market – Montgomery 

The 35th annual holiday market will be October 18th – 21st, 2023. You will find beautiful clothing, incredible jewelry, gifts, children’s items, art, gourmet food, bath products, home & holiday decor, handmade and one-of-a-kind items that you won’t find at a mall, gifts for men, and so much more!

MMFA Fall Festival

Fall Festival is a free event that celebrates Montgomery’s vibrant creative culture, featuring both local and regional artists from all backgrounds. This free public event features an art market with more than 30 vendors, live music, art demos, food trucks, and tastings with local brewers. The Fall Festival 2023 theme will be Alabama Art, in connection to the Alabama A to Z exhibition of work by talented artists from all around the state. Fall Festival will occur on Sunday, September 24th, 2023 from 10 am – 3 pm at the Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts.

Spinners Pumpkin Patch Crafts & Vendor Show – Prattville

Held each October at Spinners Park in Prattville, this fun-filled weekend event features tons of great local artists and other vendors, activities for kids, live music, and much more.

The Pike Road Arts & Crafts Fair 

Make plans to come and celebrate The Pike Road Arts & Crafts Fair on Saturday, from 9 am – 4 pm on November 4th, 2023 at the Historic Marks House, Pike Road. Visitors can enjoy diverse works of quality artwork and craftwork, delicious food and great shopping just in time for the Thanksgiving and Christmas season. Admittance fee is $5 and children 8 and under are free (cash only).

Turkey Day Classic – Montgomery

The Turkey Day Classic is one of the nation’s oldest HBCU football classics. ASU will welcome Tuskegee University back to the 99th Turkey Day Classic Game, which will be played on Thursday, November 23rd, 2023 at 2 pm in the ASU Stadium. There are several days filled with fun events like parades and concerts leading up to the game. Make sure you snag your tickets early— they usually go pretty fast! 

Zoo Fall Harvest Festival – Montgomery

Join the Montgomery Zoo on Saturday, October 14th, 2023 for the first Zoo Fall Harvest Festival. More details will be provided as they develop. 

Zoobilation – Montgomery

The Montgomery Zoo and Montgomery Area Zoological Society (MAZS) proudly announce the return of the wildest party in town, Zoobilation. This annual fundraising event will be held the evening of Thursday, September 14th, 2023 at the Montgomery Zoo. This year’s fundraising efforts will be focused on raising funds for a new Reptile Facility. The night will feature samplings from many of the region’s finest eateries and beverage vendors; soulful, toe-tapping, live entertainment; a digital auction, and a few surprises to make the evening grand and festive.
