“Greeters” serve as ambassadors to River Region newcomers and military members moving into our area. They offer a warm welcome to the community, share local tips and information, and distribute our newcomer resource guide, “Know the Community!”
This week’s Greeter Spotlight is: Jan Burdette! Get to know more about Jan below:
I have been a Warm Welcome Montgomery Greeter for ten years and have made hundreds of deliveries to people who are NEW to our City. I have been so blessed to greet individuals and families moving from just about every State in the United States of America, and some from various countries around the world! The best part of my job is seeing the smiles and happy faces of the new residents when they receive the valuable information we deliver to help them acclimate and settle in their new location.
I moved to Montgomery, when I retired, to be near my daughter, her husband, and my only two grandchildren at the time. Since then, my son and his wife have given me three more grandchildren. I am so blessed and thankful for my lovely family. I previously lived in Fairburn, GA, a small town just south of Atlanta.
I am a member of Taylor Road Baptist Church where I enjoy worship and fellowship with my church family, and am active with children’s ministry there. I’m a member of The Newcomers Club of Montgomery, Inc. This is a ladies’ group that provides opportunities for mixing and mingling, making new friends, and participating in various fun activities throughout the month.
I am SO HAPPY to have the opportunity to meet so many wonderful people moving into Montgomery!
