If you haven’t already signed your kids up for summer camp, it’s not too late! Here’s a list of some of the River Region’s best camps for kids. Whether you have a rising star athlete or a promising young artist on your hands, there’s something here we know your child will love.

Art/ Music

Art Camp- Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts

  • Ages: 5- 18
  • Dates: June 7- 11, 14-18, and 21-28; 8- 11 a.m.
  • About: Kids and teens can attend MMFA’s exciting summer camps in person or online this year for free! If your child is interested in building their creative skills or learning more about the world of art, they’re sure to enjoy what MMFA has to offer this summer. Check ahead to see what’s available for your child’s age, schedule, and interests.

Art Camp- Alabama Christian Academy 

  • Ages: 3rd- 5th grade
  • Dates: June 7- 21, M-Th; 8- 11 a.m.
  • About: Campers will learn all about different art techniques, materials, and mediums. This is the perfect opportunity for budding artists to grow their skills and express their creativity.

Theatre Camp: Frozen, Jr.- Alabama Christian Academy 

  • Ages: 3rd- 6th grade
  • Dates: June 21- 25; 8- 11 a.m.
  • About: If your child has an interest in acting or public speaking, this is the camp for them! Campers will spend the week preparing for a live performance of Frozen, Jr. for friends and families to enjoy.

Summer Intensive 2021- Montgomery Ballet

  • Ages: 7- 14 (intermediate) and 15- 23 (intermediate-advanced)
  • Dates: June 21- 25 and July 5-9; 10 a.m.- 2 p.m. (intermediate), June 28- July 2 and July 12-16; 2- 6 p.m. (intermediate-advanced) 
  • About: Dancers will spend their days learning and practicing Ballet, jazz, and more. An informal performance where dancers will have a chance to show off their skills will take place at the end of each camp session. A virtual option is available.

Preschool Camps- Abrakadoodle at the Armory Learning Arts Center

  • Ages: 3- 5
  • Dates: June 15- 17 and July 6-8; 9 a.m.- noon
  • About: Preschool campers will learn all about the art of famous children’s books and explore different modes of transportation. Activities include painting characters from children’s books and creating a custom race track. 

Elementary Camps- Abrakadoodle at the Armory Learning Arts Center

  • Ages: 6- 12
  • Dates: June 15- 17 and July 6-8; 9 a.m.- noon
  • About: Campers will learn all about Alabama and explore the intersections between science, technology, engineering, art, and math. Activities include painting the state flower and using innovative techniques to create original works of art. 

Summer Camp- Paint and Clay Studio 

  • Ages: 5- 15
  • Dates: June 1- August 6, M- F; noon- 3 p.m.
  • About: Campers will build their creative skills and make at least five projects per week using pottery, canvas, and more. 

Shark Week Art Buzz Kid’s Camp- Wine & Design

  • Ages: 7- 12
  • Dates: June 14- 17; 9 a.m.- 1 p.m.
  • About: Campers will paint canvases and complete fun craft projects that revolve around sharks!

Weekly Art Classes- P’Zazz Art Studio

  • Ages: 1st- 6th grade
  • Dates: June 1- 30
  • About: P’Zazz Art Studio is hosting day camps and weekly camps for kids all during the month of June! Camp offerings include Doll House Design, Mini Matisse, Dinosaur Art Camp, and more. Check ahead to see what’s available for your child’s age, schedule, and interests.

Camp Eagle- Alabama Christian Academy

  • Ages: K- 6th grade
  • Dates: May 31- July 30, M-F; 8 a.m.- 3 p.m. (extended hours available)

Tabletop Adventures: Dungeons & Dragons- Montgomery Academy

  • Ages: Rising 7th- 12th grade
  • Dates: June 14- 18; 1- 4 p.m.
  • About: Campers will learn all about the popular role-playing tabletop game Dungeons & Dragons by building their own characters and working as a team to complete quests. 

Camp STJ- Saint James School 

  • Ages: Rising K4- 6th grade
  • Dates: May 25- July 31, M-F; 8 a.m.- 5 p.m. (extended hours available) 
  • About: STJ students and River Region community members will enjoy arts and crafts, enrichment classes, playground time, water activities, and more all summer long at Camp STJ. 

Specialty Camps- Trinity Presbyterian School  

  • Ages: Rising 1st- 5th grade
  • Dates: June 7- July 1
  • About: There’s something for everyone at Trinity this summer! Camp offerings include Girls Just Want to Have Fun, Pow Graphic Novels and Comics, Let’s Play With Food, and more. Check ahead to see what’s available for your child’s age, schedule, and interests.

Day Camp- YMCA’s Camp Chandler

  • Ages: 5- 12
  • Dates: June 7- July 31, M-Sat; 8- 4 p.m.
  • About: Campers will enjoy water activities, group games, and more all summer at Camp Chandler. This day camp is designed with the needs and interests of all ages in mind. Bus transportation is available. 

Overnight Camp- YMCA’s Camp Chandler 

  • Ages: 5- 16
  • Dates: June 6- July 30; Sun-T, W-F, or M-Sun
  • About: Campers will have a blast developing their independence and making new friends at this overnight camp. A typical day at Camp Chandler includes waterfront activities, arts and crafts, and devotion time.  Bus transportation is available. Day Camp- YMCA’s Camp Grandview

  • Ages: 5- 15
  • Dates: May 26- August 7, M-F; 8 a.m.- 4:30 p.m.
  • About: Each week has a different theme at Camp Grandview! Campers will enjoy a variety of activities, including horseback riding, swimming, having water balloon wars, and more. Bus transportation and additional specialty camps are available. 

Goodtimes Day Camp- YMCA Locations

  • Ages: 5- 14
  • Dates: June 1- August 6, M-F; 6:30 a.m.- 6 p.m.
  • About: Campers will enjoy devotional time, swimming, art activities, and more each day during these weekly themed camps. 

Expedition Lanark Summer Day Camps- Lanark NaturePlex

  • Ages: 5-15
  • Dates: June 1- August 6, M-F; 8:30 a.m.- 3:30 p.m. (extended hours available)
  • About: If your kids are interested in all things nature, they’re going to love these camps! There’s a camp going on almost every week, so check to see what’s available for your child’s age, schedule, and interests. Camp offerings include Heritage Explorers, ARTventure, Fishing Fundamentals, and more.

Sports Summer Camps- Montgomery Academy

Faulkner Youth Baseball Camp- Faulkner University

  • Ages: 5- 17
  • Dates: June 14- 17 and 21-24; 9 a.m.- 2 p.m.
  • About: Campers will be divided into two groups for age-appropriate and skill level-appropriate instruction. 

RJ Camp- Rockin’ Jump

  • Dates: M-F; 8 a.m.- 5 p.m. 
  • About: Campers will have access to all of Rockin’ Jump’s amazing attractions. They’ll also participate in team games, do arts and crafts, and make lots of new friends. Walk-ins are welcome!

Healthy Kids Summer Camp- Bell Road YMCA

  • Ages: 5- 12
  • Dates: June 7- July 29, M-Tr; 9:30 a.m.- 1 p.m.
  • About: If you want to help your child stay active and healthy this summer, this is the perfect camp! Kids will play sports and games, take cooking classes, and more. Free swim lessons are available for campers. 

Horse Camp- Rockin’ K Ranch

  • Ages: 8- 11
  • Dates: June 4- 6; 8 a.m.- 4 p.m.
  • About: If your kid is crazy about horses, send them to Rockin’ K Ranch for a weekend of learning about horse safety, how to groom and care for horses, and the basics of western riding.

Summer Day Camp- United Gymstars

  • Ages: 5- 12
  • Dates: June 7- July 30, M-F; 7:30 a.m.- 5:30 p.m.
  • About: Campers will participate in fitness activities, open gym time, outside water play, and more.

Volleyball Summer Camps- Capital City Juniors

  • Dates: May 31- July 21

Minecraft Adventure- Montgomery Academy

  • Ages: Rising 2nd- 6th grade
  • Dates: July 12-16; 9 a.m. noon
  • About: Campers will build their tech and problem-solving skills by playing Minecraft and working with others. 

Kids at College Summer STEM Camp (Virtual)- Troy University

  • Ages: Rising 3rd- 8th grade
  • Dates: June 21- 25; 9 a.m.- noon (extended hours available) 
  • About: Campers will complete exciting STEM projects and learn all about environmental engineering, animal and land conservation, and energy— all from the comfort of home! An advanced track with special course offerings is available. 

STEM Summer Camps- Snapology at the Armory Learning Arts Center

  • Ages: 6- 14
  • Dates: June 7- 11 and 21- 25, July 12- 16, 19- 23, and 26- 30; 8:30- 11:30 a.m.
  • About: Campers will learn about the world of STEM with weekly themed camps, including Amusement Park Engineering, Incredible Inventions Robotics, and Superheroes. 

MGM LEAPS Summer Program- Hayneville Rd. and Capitol Heights Community Centers

  • Ages: K- 5th grade
  • Dates: June 14- July 23, M-F; 8 a.m.- 5 p.m.
  • About: Enriching lessons centered around the Civil Rights Movement and the arts will help students stay on track in their academic journies. Campers will also have the chance to play games and sports, do arts and crafts, and more. 

Tails and Tales Summer Library Program- Wetumpka Civic Center

  • Ages: 1st- 6th grade
  • Dates: June 8- July 20, Tuesdays; 2- 3:30 p.m.
