Live the Promise hosts Walk A Mile In My Shoes, foster care awareness event – a 1 mile family-oriented walk held in Montgomery, AL.

The purpose of Walk A Mile In My Shoes is to promote AWARENESS and RESPONSE to the crisis faced by Alabama’s 6,000+ foster children due to the shortage of good foster homes and lack of community involvement.

Participants are asked to bring new twin sheets and toiletry items to carry during the walk – symbolic of the many moves foster children endure due to the shortage of foster homes. After the walk these items will be donated to foster care organizations. Please consider donating a gift card in $5 increments for local food and outings to enrich the lives and experiences of our children.

Organizations that serve foster children and families are present to provide information on ways the community can get involved through praying, volunteering, or becoming a foster or adoptive family.

Participation is free but you must register.  Registration with t-shirt is $10.
