Swing Into Spring 2020
March 12, 2020 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Two of Montgomery’s oldest performing organizations, Capitol Sounds Concert Band (1972) and Montgomery Recreators Jazz Band (1974) perform a spring concert for the community.
The Capitol Sounds will perform “Overture to Colas Breugnon” by Dmitri Kabalevsky, “Symphony No. 3 for band” by Vittorio Giannini, “The Chimes of Liberty March” by Edwin Franko Goldman and “Tuba Tiger Rag”, based on the Canadian Brass arrangement. We will feature our very own tuba soloist, Victor Collins.
The Montgomery Recreators will feature classics by Nat King Cole (“Orange Colored Sky”), Duke Ellington’s “Satin Doll”, & the Frank Sinatra hit “That’s Life”. Also featured will be Alabama native W.C. Handy’s favorite “St. Louis Blues” as performed by Glenn Miller, as well as the George and Ira Gershwin ballad “I’ve Got a Crush on You”. Rounding out the concert you’ll hear some great jazz by Count Basie and the Buddy Rich favorite “Big Swing Face”.
The concert is certain to have a little something for everyone! Please make plans to join us for a great evening of music!
