Pike Road Week of Patriotism

June 28, 2020 - July 4, 2020

The Fourth of July and related activities have always been so important to Pike Road, and we look forward to hosting the 2020 Week of Patriotism – Town of Pike Road from June 28 – July 4. This week is designed to engage citizens of all ages in a fun and commemorative series of activities that will allow us to enjoy this uniquely American event in a smart, safe, confident, and celebratory fashion. 12 PM: A Taste of Summer Cookbook Release:

Memories and Meals from our Citizens

Help us celebrate our community and history by sharing your family’s favorite summer and Fourth

of July recipes, memories, and traditions! Contributions will be released in our community cookbook on June 28. Click the button below or email info@pikeroad.us to submit photos, stories and recipes. Deadline Extended! Submit your memories & meals through June 26.

Monday, June 29

12 – 1 PM: Mondays with the Mayor

Pike Road’s History of Patriotic Spirit

This special edition of the monthly Mondays with the Mayor radio show will feature special guests who have been active in the Pike Road community since before our Town was incorporated. We will explore local history, cherished memories, and the evolution of SummerFest, from Founders Station, the location of our first Town Hall (4902 Pike Rd). Tune in on WTXK 107.5 FM / 1210 AM.

10 AM – 4 PM: Make Your Mark

Contribute to the Handprint Flag

Throughout the week, the community is invited to participate in creating a handprint flag banner. Stop by Founders Station (4902 Pike Rd) to place your print alongside all of our neighbors! The finished masterpiece will be unveiled on July 3.

Pike Road Bleeds Red, White & Blue

Give Back, Give Blood: Community Blood Drive

Join us in giving back and contributing to the needs of our neighbors with a Community Blood Drive at Town Hall (9575 Vaughn Rd) in partnership with LifeSouth Community Blood Centers. Click here to make an appointment to donate!

Flag Exchange at Town Hall

Drop off your faded, weathered Star-Spangled Banners, and pick up a fresh, new flag from our team. With the help of local partners, we will properly dispose of your worn-out flags. Flag etiquette resources will be provided.

All Day: Show & Share Your Stars & Stripes

Start the day by dressing up in your most patriotic outfits – stars, stripes, red, white & blue – and find resources for DIY spirit gear at pikeroad.us. Share your family fun with #PikeRoad4thofJuly, or email your photos to info@pikeroad.us!

Afternoon: Patriotic Characters Tour the Town

Make plans to head outside and say hello to the Pike Road Schools Patriot himself, Victor E., and a few of his patriotic friends as they travel through Town to share in the spirit. Stay tuned for times & route information!

Friday, July 3

9 AM: Hand in Hand Flag Unveiling

We’ll reveal the completed handprint flag you help create on our social media! This masterpiece will also be on display outside of Founders Station (4902 Pike Rd).

11 AM: Paint the Town Patriotic Art Demo

Participate in creating a Fourth of July-themed painting via video demonstration from a local artist. The video will be available on our website and social media. Stay tuned for helpful tips to prepare. For all skill levels.

Saturday, July 4

All Day: Songs of Celebration: Virtual Concert

We are excited to celebrate our country all day with a virtual concert featuring the people of Pike Road. Patriotic music will be shared throughout the day on our social media and website, pikeroad.us. We will also share photos collected throughout the week. We encourage you to explore and enjoy these virtual celebrations with your family!
