Creative Conversations: The History of Lynching

March 24 @ 5:30 pm - 6:30 pm

Creative Conversations, hosted by Cassandra Cavness, MMFA Development Assistant, is a series that brings artists, community members, scholars, and museum staff together to discuss art and cultural events and to learn from one another in a casual setting.

This upcoming program will be a lively dialogue between Kiara Boone, Deputy Director for Community Education for the Equal Justice Initiative, Dr. Derryn Moten, Chair of the Department of History and Political Science at Alabama State University, artist Bethany Collins, and moderated by Dr. Joan R. Harrell, Journalism Lecturer and Diversity Coordinator at Auburn University School of Communication and Journalism. Participants will be discussing the importance of examining the history of lynching along with the critical roles that language and rhetoric play within the history and the current climate of the United States.

This free event will take place on Facebook Live.
