Event description:  From zoo animals to our pets at home and even including us, we all need enrichment.  A chance to smell a new scent.  Taste a new favor.  Play a new game or figure out a puzzle.  Enrichment is an effort to tap into and stimulate our basic five senses: touch, sight, smell, taste and hearing.  The result is to stimulate behaviors resembling those for that species in the wild.  It is a lot of trial and error, but it is always fun.

Event fee: Regular admission fee to enter zoo; however, there is no additional fee to view and participate in the Animal Enrichment Day activities.

11:45am – 12pm               North American hoofstock, live Christmas trees filled with treats

12pm – 12:15pm               Black bear, snowman
12:15pm – 12:30pm          Lions, holiday ornaments filled with treats
12:30pm – 12:45pm          Cheetah, gift boxes and ice ornaments
12:45pm – 1pm                 African hoofstock, live Christmas trees filled with treats

Everyone is encouraged to wear Christmas colors: red and green. Perhaps even wear Santa hats, jingle bells, and reindeer antlers.  Help everyone at the Zoo get into the season of Christmas in July.
