Animal Enrichment Day
July 21, 2018 @ 7:30 am - 5:30 pm
From zoo animals to our pets at home and even including us, we all need enrichment. A chance to smell a new scent. Taste a new favor. Play a new game or figure out a puzzle. Enrichment is an effort to tap into and stimulate our basic five senses: touch, sight, smell, taste and hearing. The result is to stimulate behaviors resembling those for that species in the wild. It is a lot of trial and error, but it is always fun.
Event fee: Regular admission fee to enter zoo; however, there is no additional fee to view and participate in the Animal Enrichment Day activities.
Human enrichment participation: Gates will open at 7am. Yoga class will begisn at 7:30am, lasting through 8:30am. The yoga class is open to all individuals, all ages. The instructor for this session will be Kimberly Sabel of Aerial Yoga of Montgomery. All participants are responsible for bringing their own yoga pad and water. The Zoo will not have yoga pads available. To add a little wildlife adventure to our yoga session, our docents will be presenting assorted exotic birds, small mammals, birds of prey, and reptiles. Human enrichment (yoga session) participation fee: $20 for non-Montgomery Zoo members; includes yoga instruction and admission to the Zoo. $5 for all Montgomery Zoo members IMPORTANT NOTE: All yoga participants must purchase tickets in advance. Tickets will not be sold on the morning of the event.
