Dinner (n.): A mid-day meal.

Fix (v.): To prepare a meal.

Fixin’ (n.): Side item.

Greens (n.) : Collard, turnip, or mustard greens, simmered in pork fat.

Grits (n.): Finely ground corn; cooked and served for breakfast or as a side dish.

Supper (n.): An evening meal.
